Surrendering Your Green Card - Updated!!
Hey there! Hello and welcome back. A big thank you to everyone that’s been following along. If you’ve read my post titled, “Detained at the Border!” this post is a follow up to that and either way, you just need to know, as we didn’t.
You need to formally surrender your green card when you move back to Canada (or move permanently out of the United States).

BSF186 - Documenting Your Stuff
The CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency) requires that the BSF186 - Personal Effects Accounting Document be completed before arriving at the border to move back. It’s one of those, “Pay me now or pay me later”, type of things. Best to get it all done when you’re packing, then you just hand the agents a copy.
